Green Bay Packers Cut Rookie WR Following Devastating Injury

The
Green Bay Packers
brought in some fresh talent to bolster their receiving corps during the latest off-season. They were in dire need of reinforcements at the position due to Christian Watson’s recurring injury issues. Jayden Reed joined the Packers’ roster as one of the new additions.

In the 2025 draft, the Packers selected Matthew Golden in the first round (marking their first selection of a wide receiver in the opening round in 23 years) and chose Savion Williams in the third round.

The Green Bay Packers released an injured rookie wide receiver.

On May 14, Green Bay signed rookie wide receiver Jadon Janke. However, the former South Dakota State star faced setbacks as he incurred an injury during off-season training activities.

According to an announcement made by the Packers on Monday, general manager Brian Gutekunst released Janke from the squad.

Considering the skill set of the Packers’ wide receivers, which includes players like Reed, Watson, Romeo Doubs, along with two drafted rookies, it seemed unlikely that Janke would get many opportunities to catch passes from quarterback Jordan Love during training camp or throughout the coming season if he secured a spot on either the practice squad or the 53-man roster.

Janke’s strongest opportunity to secure a spot on the team was through special teams, where he excelled during his college days, earning him a place on the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference Second Team in 2022.

In 2024, Janke joined the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent but was let go during training camp. Additionally, he participated in the Miami Dolphins’ training camp.
