This Striking Bulova Anniversary Chronograph Revives a Timeless Vintage Classic

Following closely after their commemorative
MIL-SHIPS dive watch
,
Bulova
keeps up with their 150th-anniversary celebration by releasing another retro-reissue—
the Marine Star Heritage
. Influenced by an item of great collecting appeal
military chronograph from 1970s
This particular release from the brand’s Archive Series is almost an ideal commemorative version.

This chronograph with three extra hands can measure time intervals as fine as 1/20 of a second and includes a one-way rotating bezel featuring both red and black ceramics, ideal for monitoring diving sessions or timing recipes. A date display is positioned between the four and five o’clock markers, while the black face highlights the customary 10 red star emblem. The watchhands glow in darkness, and the white indices make sure everything remains readable under poor lighting conditions.

Although we would have liked an automatic movement for a truer tribute to the classic model, Bulova opted for their own Precisionist caliber instead. This quartz system operates at a remarkable 262 kHz frequency, providing exceptional accuracy within just +/- 10 seconds annually. In contrast, some self-winding watches might deviate from exact timekeeping by up to that much each day. Consequently, you may only need to sync the Marine Star with an atomic clock during your yearly checkup and remain punctual for future appointments.

The 43mm brushed finish, stainless steel casing features a double-domed sapphire crystal and includes a screw-down crown for protection. The back of the case bears an engraving of the classic anchor motif inspired by its historical predecessor. This timepiece offers robust 200 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, or even taking a refreshing swim in your resort’s pool.

The timepiece features a 22mm wide strap design, which includes both brushed and polished link finishes. The bracelet has been cut for optimal comfort around the wrist and fastens securely using a push-button fold-over clasp designed so your shirt sleeves or accidental snags won’t inadvertently open it.

Although this timepiece is undoubtedly an impressive addition to any collection, we’re eagerly anticipating what Bulova will unveil next for their 150th anniversary celebration! You can find the Marine Star Heritage at

and choose retailers for $995.
