Among the top-rated quick-service eateries, few offer meals that qualify as nutritious choices.
Certainly, there are a few options with meals that can be considered relatively nutritious, yet the number of such choices is much smaller when compared to the less healthy alternatives.
However, do some fast-food chains offer less healthy options compared to others due to their specific menus?
Well,
World Atlas’ Nour Berjawi
attempted to determine this by examining various quick-service restaurants and evaluating them according to whether they offer menu options and meal combinations that can consume a significant portion of, or even exceed entirely, the daily suggested nutritional guidelines in a single serving.
Ranking as the unhealthiest fast food chain among the ten listed was Wendy’s, partly because of the Triple Baconator meal paired with large French fries and a medium Frosty.
Berjawi points out that the Wendy’s meal contains 2,160 calories, 54 grams of saturated fat, and 3,400 milligrams of salt. Additionally, the temporary Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple exceeds 1,500 calories by itself.
According to
WebMD
The suggested daily calorie intake for adults varies from 1,600 to 3,000, based on gender and level of physical activity.
According to the
American Heart Association
The maximum amount of salt you should consume each day is 2,300 milligrams. For saturated fat, it’s around 13 grams for individuals consuming 2,000 calories per day.
Other establishments ranked within the top 10, from position 2 through 10, included: Sonic, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, KFC, Quiznos, McDonald’s, Smashburger, Little Caesar’s, and Chick-fil-A.
