According toReuters on Monday, quoting an anonymous company official, agreements concerning 737 Max jets were reached. This arrangement follows a preliminary accord made in 2023 and is anticipated to finalize “in the near future.”
The airline, serving as Vietnam’s flagship carrier, expects to require up to 100 additional narrow-body planes by 2035 for modernizing their fleet and supporting growth plans.
This planned acquisition of an airplane syncs with growing U.S. demands on Vietnam to boost American imports as a strategy to alleviate trade frictions and prevent possible tariff impositions.
As an independent action, Vietnam Airlines entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in April with Vietcombank, the nation’s premier banking institution, aimed at securing financial backing related to the purchase of 50 narrow-body aircraft. The document did not identify any particular manufacturer.
