TrumpRx.gov Expands to Over 800 Discounted Medications
President Donald Trump has announced a significant expansion of his administration’s initiative aimed at helping Americans access affordable prescription medications. The program, known as TrumpRx.gov, now offers more than 800 discounted drugs, with an additional 160 added recently.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted the expansion, stating that the website now provides clear, transparent, and discounted offerings for four out of five prescriptions filled by Americans. He emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to address what he calls the “drug price nightmare” created during the previous administration.
A New Era of Affordable Medications
Trump unveiled the TrumpRx initiative in February, arguing that American consumers have long paid more for prescription drugs compared to those in other countries. The website was launched after the administration finalized agreements with 16 major pharmaceutical companies under “most-favored-nation” pricing arrangements. These agreements allowed participating drugmakers to receive tariff-related exemptions while agreeing to lower prices for certain medications and extend discounted pricing to eligible cash-paying consumers through TrumpRx.
Companies such as Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are participating in the program and have agreed to reduce prices on popular GLP-1 weight-loss medications. Administration officials have also highlighted discounts on a range of other products, including inhalers, HIV treatments, diabetes medications, and fertility drugs.
How the Program Works
Users of TrumpRx.gov can search for discounted medications, view estimated savings, and generate coupons for participating prescriptions. The platform aims to simplify the process of finding affordable options for everyday medications.
Trump has stated that the initiative builds on efforts from his first term to reduce prescription drug costs. He noted that during his first term, he made history by lowering drug prices, even if only slightly, which he claims was a significant change compared to previous administrations that consistently raised prices.
During his second term, Trump took a more aggressive approach with “Most Favored Nations Pricing,” ensuring that the U.S. would pay no more or ideally less than any other country for the same exact drug. He claimed that this strategy has led to substantial price reductions, sometimes by 400, 500, or 600 percent.
Significant Savings for Consumers
Trump also claimed the program has generated significant savings for consumers. He stated that the “Most Favored Nations Deals” have already saved American patients over $400 million since the launch of TrumpRx.gov. The president further argued that tariffs played a key role in securing these pricing agreements.
“Of course, Most Favored Nations would not be possible without my use of TARIFFS, which are getting other Countries to ‘pay up’ instead of relying on American Patients getting ripped off, as they were for decades until I ordered an immediate ‘stop’ to this very unfair and, frankly, foolish situation,” Trump wrote.
Future Plans and Commitment
Trump has instructed his administration to secure more “Most Favored Nations Deals,” more partnerships, and lower prices for every American patient. The initiative continues to gain momentum, with the goal of making prescription medications more accessible and affordable for all Americans.
